We have previously done a Joint Series but lately a rash of new symptoms keep coming up for people regarding their Bones, so are making a 2 part mini-series this summer on Bone Health!  While most are led to believe that their issues come from repetitive use strain, wear-and-tear, aging and injury resulting in fractures, injury, osteoporosis, stenosis, and degrading bone, the bodies have told me that most times it is something else!   All of the following can affect and regulate” bone remodeling” - the activity of the osteoblasts (bone-forming cells) and osteoclasts (bone-resorbing cells) and the decisions as to when to breakdown and when to build up.  All of these can contribute to osteoporosis, fractures, poor bone healing, pain, and the need for joint replacements!

    • Insulin Resistance eats away at the bones
    • MMPs and ADAMTS are enzymes that break down the remodeling of the EM (extracellular matrix) which is the structural scaffolding surrounding cells
    • PARs and Serine Proteases
    • Immune cells such as cytokines and chemokines
    • Chronic inflammation from stress, infection, emotional upset and more
    • Oxidative Stress is an imbalance between free radicals and the body’s antioxidant defenses
    • High levels of uric acid (gout), heavy metals, PFOAs, lactic acid, chemicals like pesticides
    • Many people have high Histamine levels (making them feel like they have allergies, chronic sinus drainage, food allergies), but chronic high histamine promotes bone resorption
    • When we are stressed or a traumatic event sticks us in sympathetic nervous system mode instead of a nice calm relaxed state of parasympathetic
    • The Autonomic Nervous System as a whole regulates involuntary actions such as breathing, heart rate, and digestion and it also regulates the environment within and around the bones such as cartilage, synovial fluid, and other tissues
    • Metabolic waste simply from normal day to day cellular processes can build up and become toxic such as build up of ammonia, urea, CO2
    • COVID spike protein can trigger inflammation and directly impact bone marrow cells specifically and can even lead to structural changes in bone

    Let’s strengthen Your Bones!!
